AFAS Software saw the number of customers in the construction sector increase by 28 per cent in 2018 compared to the previous year. The shortage of employees is forcing construction companies to automate processes. By using integrated digitisation solutions, they work more efficiently, saving a lot of time and money.
One of the biggest challenges in construction is the shortage of construction workers, one of the logical solutions to this is automation. Software supplier AFAS therefore saw an increase in the number of ERP customers in the construction sector in 2018. The largest growth took place specifically in Residential and Non-residential construction with 32 per cent. Increasingly, Excel sheets and paper-based overviews are giving way to digital innovation in the construction sector. Piet Adema, chairman of NVB Bouw even goes a step further by stating that construction companies themselves need to change. He calls on his members to "build differently, more prefabricated in the factory and make more use of automation and robotisation."
’s new clients
With new clients such as VIOS Bouwgroep, Riz bouw, Invepro and Löwik Bouw, AFAS is continuing its growth in the construction sector in 2018. “The fact that these construction companies are going to work with our software also confirms the value of our product for the construction sector,” says Coen Beckers, Sales Manager for the construction sector at AFAS Software. “More and more construction companies are recognising the added value of a single integrated solution, as it prevents data from being recorded twice in different systems. That saves a great deal of time and money.”
Future
The construction sector is increasingly suffering from soaring costs. According to ABN Amro, the sector must therefore expect slower growth in the coming years. However, despite these forecasts, it remains possible to build faster, more efficiently and more cost-effectively by deploying staff differently and making optimal use of automation and digitalisation. AFAS is responding to this by further developing its standard ERP solution for the construction industry and offering customers a package that enables them to work in an integrated manner across project monitoring, order processing and financial administration. The ERP application for the construction sector provides everything needed to run a successful business. But there is an even greater benefit: the software helps to achieve optimal collaboration across the supply chain.
