TGW, manufacturer of material handling systems, has incorporated robotics company CHM Automatiserungstechnik. With the acquisition, Austrian TWG wants to bet on the development of robotics. "That has the future," says TGW.

CHM will become a subsidiary of TGW and continue under the name TGW Robotics, the companies wrote in a statement. TGW expects to benefit from CHM's experience in robotics control and the development of articulated arm robots. These technologies are mainly used for palletising boxes in production areas. "CHM has a strong market position and provides TGW with a huge amount of knowledge and know-how, " says Harald Schröpf, Managing Director of TGW Logistics Group. "Together with the Wels headquarters, we will look at which strategically important projects we can develop together, including automated order picking of individual pieces, and how they can help us develop automated solutions for production zones. We are making a long-term investment in this acquisition and expect to deliver continuity, stability, innovation and significantly improved growth opportunity."

CHM site in Stephanskirchen will remain, senior management and employees will be retained.
