HG international, producer of cleaning products, has improved its stock control with a new tool Slim4. The producer had been struggling to manage its growing range, but saw its stock levels reduce by around 10 per cent after implementing Slim4 from Slimstock. Service levels, meanwhile, rose above 99 per cent.

Management is becoming increasingly complex
“Inventory management is a specialism,” says Theo Vos, Director of Operations at HG International. “Because our products are labelled and packaged specifically for each country, the actual product range is much larger than the 200 formulations we bring to market. In total, this amounts to over 3,000 SKUs. Managing that growing range was becoming increasingly complex, not least because we have to deal with seasonal peaks.”

Dynamics of demand
Slim4 adapts to the dynamics of demand. For example, safety stock levels are reviewed monthly based on historical demand. “We used to waste a lot of time on repetitive tasks,” says Vos. “Now we can focus entirely on the 10 per cent of exceptions. This saves us between 25 and 50 per cent of our time.”
