Jungheinrich and Movu Robotics are joining forces in a strategic partnership. This will combine Movu’s four-way shuttles with Jungheinrich’s expertise in consultancy, integration, software and service. As a result, customers benefit from compact pallet warehouses with high storage density and a seamless flow of goods, all provided by a single supplier.

Jungheinrich and Movu Robotics have entered into a strategic partnership. Jungheinrich will now be the preferred integrator for Movu’s shuttle systems, whilst Movu will be the preferred supplier for Jungheinrich. The aim is to work together to deliver highly automated pallet warehouse solutions to customers even more quickly and efficiently.

Rising space costs, complex brownfield sites and the need for higher storage density are driving growing demand for automated pallet warehouses. Four-way shuttle systems, such as the Movu Atlas, store pallets in multiple layers and depths and are therefore among the most sought-after technologies for high-density warehouses.

Integrated end-to-end solution

Thanks to the partnership, shuttle warehouses can be designed more quickly, integrated more easily and managed more efficiently. To this end, the two companies are integrating the four-way shuttles directly into Jungheinrich’s WMS and software ecosystem, which centrally manages stock and optimises the putaway and retrieval processes.

Standardised software interfaces reduce implementation time and simplify integration with existing systems. In addition, joint solution development ensures a faster and more in-depth quotation process. Coordinated service processes also guarantee reliable operation throughout the entire lifecycle of the installation.

From goods receipt to dispatch

Customers benefit from a seamless, automated material flow, from goods receipt through the shuttle warehouse right through to dispatch. Shuttle systems, conveyor technology and mobile robots are controlled via an integrated software stack from Jungheinrich. This ensures complete transparency, reduced complexity and a scalable foundation for future growth.

Movu’s shuttle systems are already in use in more than 200 warehouses worldwide and have also proven their worth in various Jungheinrich customer projects in Europe and North America. At Coppenrath & Wiese in Germany, for example, an automated warehouse for packaging materials is currently being built. This will bring together previously decentralised storage capacities into a single central facility.

At Mascot Online in Almere, work is underway on an automated pallet warehouse with approximately 11,500 pallet spaces. Ten Movu four-way shuttles ensure high storage density and rapid delivery of products there. The warehouse supports the growth of a fast-growing retailer and forms the first phase of a multi-phase expansion of its logistics processes.

High storage density

“Four-way shuttle systems are increasingly combining high-density storage with additional functionalities, such as supporting order-picking processes and sorting goods for just-in-time dispatch. And all within the same space,” says Noë van Bergen, CSO of Movu Robotics. “Through this strategic partnership, we are combining Movu’s innovative shuttle technology, stow Group’s racking manufacturing capabilities and Jungheinrich’s expertise in integration, software and service. Together, we are making automated, high-density storage easier to implement, more flexible to design and more scalable for future growth. End users benefit from Jungheinrich’s comprehensive portfolio of solutions, ranging from manual to fully automated systems that grow in line with their needs.”

The two companies will align the design of solutions, interfaces and service processes even more closely. This will strengthen Jungheinrich’s position as a global systems integrator that combines warehouse automation, software and service into an integrated, end-to-end solution that evolves in line with its customers’ needs.
