From today, commercial use of drones is easier and more accessible. While major foreign players like Amazon and Alibaba are already busy experimenting with the use of delivery drones, it remains remarkably quiet in the Netherlands in this area. More flexible regulations may ensure that logistics service providers in the Netherlands will also start experimenting with the deployment of drones.
Licence
Under the new regulations, commercial drone drivers will be granted a licence and permit after passing a theory and practical exam. This will eliminate the need to apply for a per-flight exemption. Other regulations in this area will be phased in to allow all stakeholders to get used to unmanned drones.
