You won't be the first to get started with Lean. But how will you ensure that your lean journey does succeed? Many processes get bogged down in good intentions and too much 'technique' and tools. Also, many organisations think lean is a one-off project. A project that you do for a while and then we're done.Nothing could be further from the truth.
Lean is not a project but a philosophy. A different way of thinking and especially a different way of behaving. Not only the staff on the floor but also management in particular will have to change firmly.
How and what are your management qualities? Are you too non-committal or too strict, and do you communicate well? Just holding a meeting is not enough. It is about the process of sending, receiving and understanding. And are YOU the right person to bring about the change in mentality? A tricky question because it involves leadership qualities.
But most important about the Lean philosophy is that you keep asking questions. Keep on wondering why the processes are carried out the way they are and how it will be tomorrow. Because in a constantly changing environment, an organisation needs to move flexibly to keep up. This means nothing less than that your processes, organisation and people should be in constant motion.
