Jungheinrich has presented its latest trucks and automation solutions at LogiMAT 2024 in Stuttgart, including a completely new range of pedestrian stackers and the next generation of reach trucks with integrated lithium-ion battery.
The launch of the new stackers also introduces for the first time trucks with integrated lithium-ion battery in the entry-level segment. Besides the well-known advantages such as fast and intermediate charging and maintenance-free operation, the trucks in the new EJC 1i series benefit especially from the high energy density of the batteries. Instead of a large battery trough, as is still required with lead-acid batteries, Jungheinrich has managed to house the same amount of energy in a much smaller battery module inside the truck to save space.
Better stability
So although the EJC 1i series stackers are significantly more compact and smaller than their predecessors, Jungheinrich has once again managed to significantly improve stability. This is made possible by a more intelligent weight distribution within the chassis and the use of new mast profiles. The result is a remarkable increase in residual load capacity of up to 250 kg. "The rule that the smaller and lighter the battery and truck, the lower the stability and thus the residual carrying capacity, no longer applies. With our EJC 1i series, we have managed to achieve a combination of compactness and performance that is unmatched in this segment," says Christian Erlach, Chief Sales Officer of Jungheinrich.
Two variants
Jungheinrich offers the EJC 1i series in several variants. These include the EJC 110i/112i as a standard truck, but the series also offers a variant with wheel-arm lift, where the wheel arms can be lifted in addition to the forks. For simple stacking tasks, Jungheinrich launches a model variant with monomast, which achieves lift heights of up to 2 m with a load capacity of up to 1,000 kg. An additional wide-track version is suitable for handling special load carriers, closed pallets and transverse transport of europallets. With a special focus on online sales, Jungheinrich has designed the pre-configured and thus quickly available EJC 010i for light and occasional applications.
ETV 2i series reach trucks
The new ETV 2i series has been specially developed for light- to medium-duty applications. The main target group is customers with an operating requirement of about five hours a day or less. The ETV 214i and ETV 216i models offer a load capacity of 1,400 kg and 1,600 kg respectively up to a maximum lift height of 10,700 mm. "Our new ETV 2i series is a cost-efficient solution for customers who attach great importance to quality, robustness and individual customisation options, but at the same time do not need a heavy truck," says Christian Erlach.
"We based the development of the ETV 2i series on extensive data analysis of around 14,000 real customer applications with our reach trucks. The data shows that, in practice, trucks with excessive load capacities are used in many applications today. We are taking this insight into account with our new ETV 2i series reach trucks," says Erlach.
Integrated battery
The ETV 2i series features an integrated lithium-ion battery as standard, which, thanks to its fast and intermediate charging capability and maintenance-free nature, allows for particularly flexible use, ensuring high availability. Jungheinrich offers the ETV 2i series trucks with a capacity of 230 Ah or 460 Ah. "With the 230 Ah lithium-ion battery, we can offer our customers the ETV 2i series trucks at the price level of a conventional reach truck with lead-acid battery. This means that lithium-ion technology has made its entry into the mass market for reach trucks," says Erlach. This is not only sustainable, but also has a positive effect on operating costs. This is because Jungheinrich reach trucks with lithium-ion consume about 20 per cent less energy during operation than trucks with lead-acid batteries.
Jungheinrich is also setting new standards in comfort with its new reach truck series. This is made possible by the space-saving lithium-ion battery. For example, Jungheinrich has lowered the footwell plate of the ETV 2i series, including the driver's platform, by 10 cm compared to its predecessors, making entry and exit considerably more ergonomic. The steering wheel and armrest can be adjusted separately and effortlessly.
Better all-round visibility
Safety also plays a special role for Jungheinrich in the development of the ETV 2i series. Thanks to its compact design, the truck offers better all-round visibility, minimising the risk of accidents. Other features include an LED light strip around the roof of the truck. The new and unique safety feature, called SmartStripe, has functions such as daytime running lights, indicators and brake lights. In the future, it will also be possible to display the charge level and various warnings directly on the light bar.
Looking to the future, Jungheinrich announced the launch of the ETV 3i series of reach trucks for the most intensive deployment situations for 2025. These reach trucks will be able to achieve higher load capacities and lift heights, as well as higher travel and lift speeds than the ETV 2i series to meet the needs of intensive deployment.
