This afternoon, the five nominees of Logistics Manager of the Year presented themselves to the general public for the first time. Each of them showed why precisely they and their organisation were able to use logistics as a Game Changer.
Game changer
A full theatre in hall 10 shows that the event is already very much alive among Logistica visitors. Led by chairman of the day Jan Dirk Stouten, a debate starts about this year's theme: Logistics as Game Changer. Currently, logistics is often seen as a possible cost reducer, but according to the Logistics Manager of the Year foundation, something needs to be added to this. Logistics must become a unique selling point. "This year's Logistics Manager of the Year must be able to offer a combination of prevention and promotion," Ronald Leunisse said during the debate. In selecting the nominees, we looked at organisations that have made an impact by using logistics as a Game Changer. The Logistics Manager of the Year 2015 will therefore be a proven Game Changer.
Nominees
After the debate, the five nominees each got ten minutes to present themselves to the public. "So far, we have only seen paper CVs of the nominees, so we actually know very little about them. Time to put them through their paces," says jury chairman Rene de Koster. Eric Ermstrant (Philips Health Systems), Iwan te Winkel (Raab Karcher), Marco de Jong (Foot Locker Europe), Martin van Zanten (Valspar Automotive) and Carin Hendriksen (Omron) all argued why they in particular were able to use Logistics as a Game Changer. It is striking that almost all nominees highlighted the use of Lean during their presentation. In exactly four months and ten days, it will become clear which of these nominees is the real Game Changer of 2015.
