Home deliveries of parcels ordered online have negative
consequences for road safety in residential areas. This is the warning issued by Veilig
Verkeer Nederland.

Dangerous driving
The online shopping market continues to grow. Courier services are having to
visit residential areas with increasing frequency. In some streets, around twenty delivery vans
a day. This has led to hundreds of complaints
from concerned residents. According to VVN, the courier services are driving far too fast and
carelessly, VVN has told *De Telegraaf*.

Fifty vans a day

“If this trend continues, some streets will have to cope with fifty vans a day
. We’re also seeing an increase in the number of speeding offences, illegal parking
and other offences is on the rise,” said spokesperson Rob Stomphorst to the
newspaper. The organisation hopes that residents of busy neighbourhoods will take action
against the high number of delivery vans in their neighbourhood. Only in this way could they
prevent things from going seriously wrong.
