HEMA is going to deliver online placed orders from its webshops. This writes Emerce following the event E-commerce Live! Amsterdam.
The intention is that the shops themselves have enough stock to process the orders. If the item ordered is not in stock anyway, it will be delivered from the distribution centre.
HEMA held a trial with this method of delivery in Amsterdam and some other locations. Starting this month, the service will be rolled out in all shops. Customers can pick up orders at the shop or have them delivered. The retailer previously offered the option for Click & Collect, but customers usually had to wait a week for the order to be ready in the shop. That process should now be a lot faster.
HEMA saw its online sales rise significantly last year. Revenue from online orders rose 28 per cent to 51 million euros. The online revenue share was 4 per cent of total revenue in 2015.
