Albert Heijn is not planning any same-day delivery in the near future. The supermarket chain did test the service, but is sticking to 'Ordered before noon, delivered next day' for now.
This is what RetailNews writes following AH Online general manager Selma Postma's speech at E-commerce Live! Albert Heijn currently operates three 'homeshop centres' where online orders are picked and delivered the next day. If the supermarket chain starts same-day delivery, it could use the physical supermarkets.
Selma Postma, however, does not think consumers are waiting for that. According to Postma, consumers who want food in their homes within a short time prefer to use nearby alternatives. Same-day delivery is therefore more attractive for online non-food shops, the general manager believes.
