The distribution centres of property developer DOKVAST are still among the most sustainable new buildings in the Netherlands. However, over the past six months, the centres have slipped slightly in the BREEAM-NL rankings.

The NewLogic || building in Tilburg, which houses car manufacturer Tesla, received a sustainability score of 91.18 per cent from BREEAM-NL. This puts DOKVAST in third place in the top five most sustainable new buildings. Fourth place also goes to the property developer. Its Vossenberg West || project in Tilburg received a score of 91.17 per cent. The distribution centre owes this score to the use of sustainable materials, automatically dimming LED lighting, triple-glazed insulation, extra insulation on façades and roofs, and the use of a heat pump.

Most sustainable building in the world
At the end of last year, DOKVAST's two distribution centres occupied the second and third spots in the ranking. Only office building The Edge in Amsterdam scored higher. This year, Geelen Counterflow in Haelen has knocked The Edge off its throne. The office building in Limburg has a sustainability score of no less than 99.94 percent, making it the most sustainable office building in the world. The new office was built entirely with prefabricated walls and floors of unglued solid wood from the Black Forest. Wherever possible, 'Cradle To Cradle' certified building materials have also been used.
