To improve the payment of wages
, the transport sector is the first to introduce a quality mark. The trade associations Transport and Logistics Netherlands (TLN) and the shippers’ organisation EVO have launched a quality mark that makes it clear whether companies pay on time and do not underpay their staff.

The certificate awarded to companies is called PayChecked
in Transport (PCT). “The PayChecked in Transport quality mark ensures
ensures that clients can see at a glance that the carrier has
wage payments are in order. This eliminates the need for checks.
Clients and transport operators can do business quickly and easily,” say the
organisations state.

Foreign
drivers
Many companies in the Netherlands are now using foreign
drivers due to labour market shortages. The prevailing view is that haulage companies do this to cut costs. Drivers from Poland, for example, are said to be much cheaper. Due to the shortage of lorry drivers in
the Netherlands, companies often resort to using foreign drivers out of sheer necessity. The quality mark is intended to ensure that these companies are not unnecessarily accused of exploitation.

Clarity
The Act on Tackling
was recently introduced. This does not apply to the transport sector, and that
rubbed the organisations up the wrong way. That is why they are now introducing the
certificate. The quality mark provides greater
clarity. They now have a better idea of where they stand. “PayChecked in Transport is
been established by TLN and EVO as an independent foundation. TLN and EVO are
not involved in awarding the quality mark or in any appeals or
appeal procedures. The assessment of companies is carried out by
accredited inspection bodies specialising in monitoring
terms and conditions of employment”, the organisations explain.
