Docdata, DHL Supply Chain, Jumbo and Schneider Electric are in with a chance of winning the Safest Warehouse Prize 2016 this year. The companies are competing in the large warehouses category. In the small warehouses category (warehouses with 25 or fewer employees), Fast & Fluid Management, Janssen Biologics and Abbott Biologicals are competing against each other. It will be announced on 9 November which of the nominees goes home with the title.
The jury speaks of a "balanced ratio of nominees between large and small warehouses". The judges also praise the distribution between different sectors such as retail, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing. The final winner will go home with a cash prize. The warehouse that wins Gold will receive 1,000 euros. Silver and Bronze get a cash prize of 750 and 500 euros respectively. This applies to winners in both categories (small and large).
The jury of the Safest Warehouse Prize stresses that it is a symbolic amount. "A sum of money is not the main reason for participating in the Safest Warehouse election. More important is the opportunity to further improve warehouse safety with the help of the experience gained."
The election of the Safest Warehouse in the Netherlands is being organised for the eleventh time this year. With the award, organisers such as BMWT, EVO and TLN want to emphasise the importance of a safe and healthy working environment. The winner will be announced on 9 November during the Day of the Warehouse. Last year, CEVA Logistics (large category) and Akzo Nobel (small category) emerged as winners.
