Logistics platform Transporeon has been acquired by investor TPG Capital. The German software company, which operates in 100 countries, links shippers, carriers and users via applications.
According to Transporeon, around a thousand shippers, 57 thousand carriers and 100 thousand users work with the platform. The company offers various applications that make it easier for logistics companies to connect and collaborate with each other. Through collaboration and the use of software, companies can reduce waiting times, prevent empty shipments and optimise supply chain processes, according to Transporeon.
'Innovation in an inefficient industry'
TPG bought a majority stake from US private equity firm The Riverside Company and some other shareholders. It is unclear how much money was involved. For TPG, acquiring Transporeon was interesting because of the innovation the company brings to a traditionally traditional industry. According to Malte Janzarik of TPG Capital, Transporeon can eliminate inefficiencies in the sector by connecting companies. Concerned companies would increasingly say goodbye to manual processes and make the switch to automated solutions.
