Logistics platform Paazl and logistics service provider Fadello want same day delivery to become commonplace and have therefore joined forces. According to the two parties, there are currently still too many barriers to same-day delivery. By removing these obstacles, Paazl and Fadello hope that the service will break through for good next year.
Only 10 per cent of the two hundred largest Dutch webshops offer same-day delivery. Meanwhile, research by Multiscope shows that 44 per cent of Dutch consumers prefer delivery on the day of ordering. "This indicates a gap between supply and demand," the companies state in a press release.
The biggest obstacles to offering same-day delivery are usually cost and technology. Through their partnership, Paazl and Fadello hope to make fast delivery affordable and accessible. By utilising the transport capacity of existing regional couriers, Fadello claims it can offer same-day delivery at rates that compete with those of standard delivery. “As well as competitive pricing, we ensure our operations are as efficient as possible, whilst also being scalable and as sustainable as possible,” explains Kees Martijn Segaar, CEO of Fadello, regarding the decision to use regional couriers.
There are also factors holding back adoption of same-day delivery on the side of retailers, especially around integration into the webshop and warehouse software. According to Paazl, the addition of Fadello to its SaaS platform from now on makes this a matter of 'ticking a box'. Paazl CEO Bernard Schreiner: "I'm sure this will quickly make same-day delivery a permanent feature in all checkouts."
