Port of Rotterdam Authority has opened a lab to print metal parts with a 3D printer.

The RAMLAB (Rotterdam Additive Manufacturing Lab) is to reveal the commercial possibilities of 3D metal printers. This will allow the technology to be used on a large scale for printing spare parts.

The lab contains two systems: one to print ship propellers and another that can print large objects. The latter system can move along a six-metre track. And print parts more than one cubic metre in size.
