Deutsche Post DHL is to migrate its existing IT platforms to the cloud. To do so, it is working with T-Systems, previously also the logistics service provider's digital service provider.

Deutsche Post DHL and T-Systems have renewed a five-year cooperation. The contract involves several hundred million euros. T-systems will manage and develop the logistics service provider's data centres, network and workplace systems. It will also migrate the Bonn-based company's existing IT platforms. "As a digital service provider, we at Deutsche Post DHL accompany the transformation from classic IT and network services to the cloud and the all-IP era," said Reinhard Clemens, member of the Deutsche Telekom Board of Management and CEO of T-systems.

The infrastructures for voice and data traffic are moving to a homogeneous IP-based network. In addition, T-systems, a subsidiary of Telekom Deutschland, provides solutions for mobile communication in the Machine-to-Machine segment, along with voice/data solutions and new value added services.

With the cooperation, Deutsche Post DHL is particularly aiming for stability. "The cooperation with T-Systems ensures stability and renewal of our IT systems. This is an absolute must for us as the world's leading logistics service provider," says Jürgen Gerdes, board member of the Deutsche Post DHL Group. "This cooperation also contributes to the journey we started several years ago towards a consistent, integrated IT structure."
