The online freight exchange platform CX Euro has had a successful start: since 2017, the platform for couriers, transporters and forwarders has more than 110 active members.
CX Euro is the European equivalent of the UK's Courier Exchange and Haulage Exchange. The idea is simple: on the online platform, companies can offer freight they cannot transport themselves to other couriers. Couriers can also make themselves available for new assignments. This way, they can take on multiple assignments at the same time and drive more efficiently. The active members of CX Euro consist mainly of couriers and forwarders so far.
In the UK, parent company Transport Exchange Group (TEG) has been successful for some time. Local freight exchange platforms there have over 15,000 active users, with a total of over 30,000 connected vehicles that collectively make around 800,000 trips a year.
In the UK, active users manage to reduce the number of miles driven with an empty load compartment by 60 per cent thanks to the online freight exchange platform. With the launch of CX Euro, TEG is now extending that success from the Netherlands to Europe.
An app allows drivers to report their current locations, planned trips or availability, making it easy for other users to see where they are currently and whether they are suitable for their freight. Moreover, courier companies and freight forwarders can use the app to see who is available and make contact to offer cargo.
