A new park with sustainable distribution facilities near Schiphol should put the Netherlands on the map as a sustainable gateway to the rest of Europe.
Property investor Segro wants to put a new park with sustainable distribution facilities on the map with the development of the Segro Park Amsterdam Airport (SPAA). The park includes solar panels and energy generated from thermal storage systems.
The distribution centre is part of the park on Rijnlanderweg in Hoofddorp, where more logistics facilities ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 m2 will be built in the near future. These facilities will be combined with smaller buildings of between 1,500 to 10,000 square metres.
According to Tijs Derison, managing director of Segro Benelux, Schiphol can play a starring role in making distribution centres in Europe more sustainable. 'The Netherlands acts as a gateway to the rest of Europe and Schiphol plays an important role in this,' he said in a press release.
