DHL Parcel has reached an agreement in principle with the trade unions on a new collective agreement. The new collective agreement guarantees DHL employees a 6 per cent wage increase over three years. They will also receive an employment guarantee for the next three years.
In the collective agreement, overtime pay, allowances for irregular work, continued sick pay or anniversary bonuses remained unchanged. This to the relief of FNV Transport & Logistics and CNV Vakmensen. "I am proud that we were able to agree on a nice wage increase and an employment guarantee at DHL Parcel and that several deteriorations will not go ahead," said Reinier Stroo, director FNV Transport & Logistiek. There will also be a trial of self-rostering and working from home. "A lot is asked of the workers, flexibility and trust from the employer is also allowed in return," adds Tjitze van Rijssel, director CNV Vakmensen. The collective agreement, which applies to 1,700 people, is still to be submitted to members. They may cast their vote on the agreement, after which the CBA will apply until 31 December 2019.
The unions see the agreement as a 'nice stepping stone for other collective agreement processes at DHL'. The unions have been wrangling with DHL Express over a new agreement for over a year. In early May, workers at the company were still campaigning for better working conditions. Among other things, they demanded a wage increase of 2.5 per cent and a one-off payment of 300 euros.
