SSI Schäfer has acquired ABM, specialist in order picking systems. With the acquisition, SSI Schäfer aims to increase its presence in Benelux and broaden its product portfolio for intralogistics solutions.

"With ABM, we are consistently expanding our product range in the Benelux, and the resulting synergies will allow us to realise total concepts locally in line with our corporate philosophy," said CEO Harrie Swinkels in a press release. "Localisation and customisation are the keys to success. Together with ABM, we are even closer to the customer and also benefit from the extensive expertise in customer-specific order picking solutions."

ABM was founded in 1994 as part of the Alltech Group with a strategic focus on Pick-To-Light systems. The company has since expanded its order picking technologies: in 2009, ABM introduced a user interface (UI) for processes on the logistics shop floor with Pick-To-Graphics. From 2012, the company launched pick carts under the PickArt concept: a combination of smart batch algorithms, intelligent navigation, intuitive communication and a flexible drop-cart structure. Since 2014, it has also been developing and implementing total solutions: a mix of storage systems, transport concepts and software modules.
