Logistics service provider Ceva Logistics may get French ownership. The company, which has its headquarters in Hoofddorp, is reportedly being taken over by French railway company SNCF.
This is what the French business magazine 'La Lettre de L'Expansion' writes on its website. According to the magazine, SNCF, parent group of Geodis, has asked the French government for €1 billion in refinancing. With this, it may want to make a bid for Ceva Logistics. The acquisition of Ceva would involve between €2.5 billion and €3 billion. It wants to get the rest of the takeover amount from the sale of automotive subsidiary STVA.
Motive takeover
SNCF has its eye on the logistics service provider due to its plans with subsidiary and logistics service provider Geodis. To compete with other international players, Geodis needs scale, La Lettre writes. Geodis currently occupies eighth place in the global ranking of logistics service providers, but wants to move up to a top five position. With its presence in all continents, Ceva Logistics would be a suitable candidate. With more than 40,000 employees, Ceva Logistics has been owned by US private equity firm Apollo since 2007. Ceva Logistics would not comment on the substance of the rumours.
