Logistics service provider CB and digital print company Printforce are shortening the logistics chain by fully integrating their processes. To ratify the cooperation, CB has acquired 50 per cent of the shares in Printforce.

For full integration, Printforce is moving its production facilities to CB in Culemborg in 2018. By integrating their processes, CB and Printforce aim to fully merge distribution from stock and stockless on-demand production. An approach that is unique in the world, according to the companies.

Publishers would more often choose to have books produced only after they have been sold, to reduce inventory risks. Nevertheless, publishers do require books to be available quickly. "Because we will soon have the printing facilities in-house, we will be able to deliver books even faster," says Hans Willem Cortenraad, general manager CB.
