Twenty-two parties from the construction sector signed the Green Deal Construction Logistics on Tuesday. By doing so, the parties commit themselves, among other things, to carry out five projects with smart construction logistics.
The Green Deal Building Logistics was signed by market parties, clients and knowledge institutes. They promise to share their knowledge on smart building logistics across the sector. The Green Deal's market parties undertake to carry out five projects with smart building logistics during the term of the deal. Some frontrunners co-sign to shape a new call for tender with municipalities and other national clients in practical award criteria such as a so-called EMVI or via a BLVC plan. For all parties, they need to change their way of looking at the construction process.
The construction sector accounts for a third of transport movements in the Netherlands. Cooperation between builders, installers, transporters and suppliers has positive effects in three key areas: costs, congestion and CO2 emissions. "If construction logistics is well organised, it can contribute to improving traffic flow on the road network, limiting construction nuisance for the surrounding area, reducing CO2 emissions and increasing safety," Bouwend Nederland writes on its website.
