Lidl has installed parcel safes in three stores in Belgium. Consumers can collect online orders from the supermarket chain and other online shops there.

This involves three locker walls in shops in Evere, Hamme and Ekeren, each consisting of 58 lockers. In these, 90 per cent of the online range can be delivered, according to Lidl. When placing the order, the customer can choose to have the order placed in the safe. The order will be ready within 48 hours, after which the consumer will receive an e-mail with a unique code to open the safe.

For the parcel lockers, Lidl cooperates with Cubee, which comes from bpost and offers an open network of parcel vending machines. This allows consumers to have orders from other online shops and courier companies delivered there as well.
