Yale Europe Materials Handling has expanded its range of electric lift trucks to include the 8-tonne lithium-ion truck. The performance of the all-electric ERP80VN is said to match a Yale combustion truck in terms of performance and productivity.

The ERP80VN is an 8-tonne forklift on a 900mm load centre. Using lithium technology, Yale says the forklift is an equivalent alternative to the internal combustion forklift GDP80VX9, but with lower noise levels. The drive and lift forks are fully independent, meaning that when maximum lift speed is applied, the drive is not affected.

The ERP80VN offers the option of interim charging, and can be used on three connected shifts. With an empty battery, the forklift can be fully charged within two hours. The lithium-ion battery, which has a net capacity of 50 kWh can complete an eight-hour shift at maximum loads.

"The ERP80VN is Yale's first all-electric forklift whose performance and productivity is on par with a Yale combustion truck, with many of our customers generating their own electricity and using this energy, among other things, for their own material handling equipment," said Phil Ireland, Senior Product Strategy Manager for Counterbalance Solutions at Yale. "Also, there is a clear trend towards emission-free application for lift trucks in the heavier segment."
