Coolblue has installed a new packing machine at its distribution centre in Tilburg. The machine, which is 200 metres long, can pack up to 20,000 parcels a day. The new machine also contributes to Coolblue's sustainability ambitions.
The e-commerce giant expects 10 to 15 per cent fewer trucks to have to drive due to the installation of the so-called 'Sealed Air'. This is because the machine measures the height of each order and folds a lid around it. Through this custom-made packaging, Coolblue reduces the number of trips and saves 90 per cent of stuffing material.

The machine processes almost 1 second per parcel and will pack 90 per cent of all Coolblue orders. Incidentally, warehouse workers need not fear for their jobs with the arrival of the fully automated packing machine. Coolblue's distribution centre is currently being expanded by three halls. These extra square metres provide work for hundreds of extra warehouse employees, according to ceo Pieter Zwart in the video.
