RAI Amsterdam is running a pilot for more sustainable exhibition logistics together with logistics partner DB Schenker. During the set-up and take-down of trade fair Metstrade, DB Schenker lets exhibitors deliver goods to a transhipment facility outside Amsterdam.

The RAI opened a buffer area in Westpoort for this purpose, where the goods are grouped and transported to and from the RAI in an environmentally friendly Scania LNG truck. There, DB Schenker unloads the goods with electric forklifts.

With the pilot, the RAI hopes to relieve some of the traffic during the set-up and take-down of large events. DB Schenker says it will deliver the materials to the RAI during low-traffic periods with a maximum load factor. If the results are positive, the concept will be rolled out further at other exhibitions and events.
