Kuehne + Nagel may want to outsource its operational transport activities to an external partner. The logistics service provider is said to have decided so due to increasing competition and price developments in the transport market.

Insufficient transport volumes

This is according to an internal memo sent to affected staff, in the hands of Transport Online. "We are facing insufficient transport volumes and therefore a permanent lack of backloads. We have initiated the necessary improvement processes in recent years to address such challenges within BU (Business Unit, ed.) Transport, but these have not led to the desired, and for our organisation necessary, results."

Little change for staff for now

The company says it is in talks with several parties. It is unclear when the outsourcing will take place. Little will change for staff, Kuehne + Nagel assures, "In the event of a transfer of undertaking, employees will retain the right to their existing terms of employment and years of service. Also, the intention is to find a partner where the place of employment will be retained."
