The election Safest Warehouse of the Netherlands has started. Companies striving for a good and safe workplace in the warehouse can compete for the title from today.
The election is an annual initiative of organisations such as BMWT and evofenedex. According to the organisers, a safe and healthy working environment is a 'must' to bind and retain employees, especially in today's tight labour market. "Safety has become an important working condition," they say.
Valuable feedback
The companies that pass the first round will be visited by an inspector who will assess the warehouse. The nominees will receive an extensive jury report after that visit. "This provides valuable feedback, which nominees can use to make the warehouse even safer," reads the press release.
Nine criteria
Companies can receive a bronze, silver, or gold rating. The jury, led by René de Koster (Erasmus University) determines this rating based on the score on nine criteria including legal obligations, monitoring, safety on the shop floor, management safety requirements and working climate. Each year, there are two categories: large warehouses with more than 25 warehouse employees and small warehouses with 25 or fewer warehouse employees.
Bausch Health winner 2018
In 2018, the gold in the large warehouses category went to Bausch Health. The distributor of eye care products scored just better than the warehouses of Vistaprint (silver), Jumbo Supermarkets (silver) and Pon Logistics (bronze).
Registration for the election is possible until 1 June 2019 via the website.
