Shortly after buying Panalpina, DSV is already on an acquisition path. Denmark-based logistics service provider is eyeing road transport companies, says board chairman Thomas Plenborg.

At the end of August, DSV completed the acquisition of Swiss counterpart Panalpina. Since then, the forwarder has operated under the name DSV Panalpina, good for a turnover of 13.2 billion euros and 60,000 employees in 90 countries.

Room for consolidation

The company does not intend to stop there. "When we are well advanced with the integration of Panalpina in 12 to 18 months' time, we will start talking about further acquisitions," Plenborg said. According to the board chairman, the global transport market is highly fragmented, leaving plenty of room for further consolidation. The forwarder is mainly looking at smaller road transport companies.

New TMS

Besides integrating DSV and Panalpina, the company's focus in the coming months will be on developing a new transport management system. When that system is ready for scale-up and the integration process of DSV and Panalpina is underway, the company will make new acquisitions.
