By deploying new transport planning software and electric vans, HelloFresh can deliver in Amsterdam completely emission-free. The meal box supplier is expanding this 'green' working method to Utrecht and Ghent in the near future.
By the end of 2022, HelloFresh wants to deliver 50 per cent of its deliveries in the Benelux to be emission-free. To this end, it has been working with trip and optimisation software Conundra OptiFlow since last year. A more efficiently composed trip plan, the opening of hubs in Belgium and 'green delivery times' through which customers can see for themselves what the most sustainable delivery moment is, mean that delivery staff need to make fewer hours and kilometres. Thomas Stroo, COO of HelloFresh Benelux: "In addition, the loading space of our delivery vans is 16 per cent fuller. Collectively, this all results in an annual reduction of 867 tonnes of CO2 in the Benelux."
Emission-free in Amsterdam
Within the Amsterdam ring road, HelloFresh is launching completely emission-free delivery. "The presence of a dedicated city hub in Diemen where the vans can recharge and the large number of customers HelloFresh has in Amsterdam make this a logical first choice."
Limited range of electric vans
Stroo: "The vans currently have a limited action radius which means we cannot yet deliver electrically throughout the Benelux." The meal box delivery company says it is working with several car manufacturers to make this still possible. "We aim to be able to deliver half of our deliveries in the Benelux electrically by the end of 2022, initially focusing on urban areas."
