Jungheinrich is building a new automated parts warehouse in Germany for Liebherr-Werk Ehingen, one of the world's largest builders of mobile cranes. The heart of the logistics solution is a six-aisle automated silo high-bay warehouse with 18,000 pallet spaces.

The new warehouse will be located in Ehingen, Baden- Württemberg. From 2023, Liebherr plans to handle global parts distribution from here. The crane specialist has engaged Jungheinrich as sole partner for the planning, design and construction of the project. The design must take into account the future growth Liebherr foresees.

The warehouse will have a length of 80 metres, a width of 75 metres a height of 30 metres. In addition, it will feature a bin shuttle warehouse with triple-deep storage locations for a total of 40,000 bins, divided into two aisles.

In addition to the construction of the silo high-bay warehouse and tote shuttle warehouse, Jungheinrich is supplying pallet and tote conveyors and six warehouse cranes from subsidiary MIAS. Each warehouse crane has two load lifting devices, which should ensure fast storage and handling of Liebherr parts.

The Jungheinrich Warehouse Management System (WMS) controls automatic and manual processes in cooperation with Liebherr's ERP system. This includes multi-order picking of parts with pick-by/put-to-light and subsequent consolidation to order pallets.
