Logistics service providers Simon Loos and Peter Appel Transport will continue as one company from 2021. The mega-merger will create an organisation with more than 3,000 employees and 1,400 vehicles.

The two companies will continue together as Simon Loos. That name was chosen because CEOs Peter Appel and Simon Loos are cousins from the well-known transport family Loos. Peter Appel: "Precisely because of our Loos family ties and the fact that Simon Loos has been a trusted name in logistics Netherlands for more than eighty years, we decided to continue together as Simon Loos and not to launch a new name."

Both companies focus mainly on food retail and food service. The customer base is also largely similar. "Our companies fit together seamlessly. This step is therefore more than logical with a view to tomorrow. And it also offers all kinds of new opportunities for our customers, partners and employees," Simon Loos says. According to Simon, the merger enables the companies to invest more in digitalisation, specialisation and sustainability.

Both directors will continue to lead the merged company. This will have 60 branches after the merger, spread throughout the Netherlands.
