XPO has opened a new European distribution centre in Eindhoven. In the 35,000-square-metre building, the logistics provider handles distribution for Tectronic Industries (TTI).
XPO supports TTI in serving the European market through inbound and outbound services, warehousing, kitting and ancillary services. The distribution centre, located on the XPO campus in Eindhoven, stores consumer products including power tools, garden tools and accessories.
TTI sees it as a logical step to set up its own distribution centre for this industry. This allows the company to give the consumer market 'the attention it deserves'.
"We have seen tremendous growth in the consumer segment in recent years and we continue to expand in the European market," says Paolo Balloni, Vice President Supply Chain Management EMEA at Techtronic Industries. "We have found a good partner for this in XPO. With their campus in Eindhoven, they have direct access to a large network in Europe that allows us to best supply our growing market."
The cooperation with TTI means expansion of the industrial segment for XPO Logistics, a strategic choice for the logistics service provider. Mauro Ungheretti, managing director XPO Logistics: "The industrial sector is going through a rapid transition partly due to COVID-19. Construction markets, for example, are increasingly offering their products online. We are therefore proud that Techtronic Industries has chosen us as its partner to meet this demand and optimise its logistics processes from this sustainable distribution centre."
The new building was built according to sustainability certification mark BREEAM 'Very good'. The companies aim to operate CO2-neutrally in the DC within a few years.
