Zeeman is transforming its supply chain. A new cloud-native WMS from Manhattan Associates should make the textile supply chain's fulfilment network more agile and flexible.
Zeeman, which has 1,300 shops in Europe, previously used an in-house developed WMS. A system that "has served the retailer fine over the years", but now proved insufficient to manage both shops and e-commerce orders. Seaman sat down with Manhattan Associates and opted for the supply chain software specialist's latest cloud-native solution.
The WMS is being implemented at Zeeman's central distribution centre in Alphen aan den Rijn. According to Zeeman, the implementation is part of a pan-European supply chain transformation to ensure improved speed, agility and flexibility.
Manhattan Active Warehouse Management, as the system is called, allows the retailer to automatically manage order flow through the DC based on capacity and cut-off times. This should ensure improved throughput and resource utilisation. The microservices architecture on which Manhattan's system is built allows regular updates to be rolled out quickly. 'Allowing us to run an agile, professionalised and future-proof supply chain operation,' said Schelte Halma, Director of Logistics at Seaman.
