DB Schenker is renovating its land transport terminal in Tilburg. The international hub is getting 'a complete facelift' with a better layout for cross-dock operations.

DB Schenker was keen to stay at industrial estate Katsbogten in logistics hotspot Tilburg. Renovation was needed, however. Pierre van Diesen, Head of Land Transport BeNeLux: "To grow, compete and continue to provide good service, we are investing in making the existing premises more sustainable and modernising them."

The renovation will start in mid-2021 and take about a year. The entire warehouse will be adapted to cross-dock operations for pallet distribution. Via a built-in in-floor chain conveyor system, pallets will be moved internally automatically. The building will have energy-efficient LED lighting and solar panels, and the new site infrastructure will be adapted to the growth in traffic movements. A total of 350 employees work at the facility.
