Logistics service provider Simon Loos will take care of the nationwide refrigerated distribution of Arla Foods Netherlands in the coming years. It concerns the distribution of daily fresh products of Arla and Melkunie from the production site in Nijkerk.

Arla Foods wants to grow further in the Dutch and Belgian markets. The dairy cooperative - active in the Netherlands since 2009 - was looking for a logistics service provider to facilitate this in the coming years. The companies entered into a multi-year cooperation. Arla says it chose Simon Loos because of its focus on sustainability and the logistics provider's large transport and distribution network.

"By 2030, we want to have reduced 30 per cent of our emissions and be fully net climate neutral by 2050," says Bouke van Hamersveld, Logistics Manager Arla Foods in the Netherlands and Belgium. "Simon Loos' sustainable solutions are going to help us achieve our sustainability goals. In addition, we see the presence of other dairy suppliers as customers at Simon Loos as an advantage."

With the arrival of Arla Foods, Simon Loos further expands its share in Dairy distribution. Simon Loos has many customers in food retail and food service. The company merged this year with Peter Appel Transport. This created an organisation with over 3,000 employees, 1,400 vehicles and 60 locations.
