GXO Logistics has now officially split off from XPO Logistics. The spin-off, which has 94,000 employees and 869 locations worldwide, focuses on logistics services.

GXO Logistics is the former logistics segment of XPO Logistics. The idea behind the split-off: two powerful players, each with a clear specialism in their industry. XPO Logistics continues to focus on freight transport, while GXO Logistics operates as a service provider for pure-play contract logistics. Malcolm Wilson, former CEO of XPO Logistics in Europe, now heads GXO.

GXO has 94,000 employees worldwide and more than 20 million square metres of warehouse space. It operates from 869 locations in 27 countries. The company's customers include Apple, Nike, Nestlé and Whirlpool. The company says it uses advanced automation and collaborative robots to increase productivity. With machine learning, data science and predictive analytics, it aims to turn logistics into competitive advantage for retailers, manufacturers and other parts of the supply chain.
