Cornelissen Groep has taken over the ornamental plant distribution centre in Bleiswijk including VAL activities and thirty employees of Daily Logistics Group (DLG). The operation at this distribution centre is carried out on behalf of Albert Heijn. The acquisition further strengthens Cornelissen Groep's existing operations.
Both Cornelissen and DLG are known for their professionalism, excellent quality of service and a modern outlook on logistics operations. By further focusing and specialising in their chosen market segments, both companies are gearing up for the future.
"We see the acquisition of these activities as a further strengthening of our services. Retail and shop distribution are increasingly becoming a real specialism in the market and this increase in scale allows us to offer our customers an even broader portfolio of services. Scale is also necessary to keep up with the flexibility, energy transition and digitalisation battles in our sector," said Mark van der Drift, CEO of Cornelissen Groep.
Strategic choice
Joost Visbeen, CEO of DLG says of the acquisition, "The sale of these activities is a strategic choice to maintain the right focus in the company. The DC and its associated activity is a 'stand alone' part of the recently completed acquisition of GIST Nederland B.V. The international activities of this acquisition are already integrated into the DLG operation and provide added value to the DLG network. We are very happy that the people have joined a real family business like Cornelissen, thus creating a nice future perspective."
Two family businesses
Daily Logistics Group is a family business with 135 years of experience. DLG's strength lies in connecting logistics flows nationally and internationally with multimodal combinations (road, water and rail) as a starting point. Flows to and from the UK are a major foundation of DLG Dailyfresh. The other divisions DLG Perishables and DLG Overseas are also developing strongly.
Cornelissen Groep is a family business that has long believed in the power of progressive logistics in vital sectors. Following the acquisition, the company is growing towards an annual turnover of €200 million and over 1,400 employees. With a strong transport network, warehousing, value added logistics and home delivery, Cornelissen Groep offers an innovative platform of sustainable logistics solutions for retailers and consumer product suppliers.
