More and more warehouses are using robotics. The number of warehouse robots continues to grow and the forecast for the coming years is that the number of robots will only increase. This is according to a report by research firm IndustryARC.
According to the agency, the number of robots in warehouses will increase by 11.3 per cent between now and 2020. This figure is partly because more and more robots are being made specifically to help in distribution centres or warehouses. China, India, the United States, France and Japan are experiencing the highest growth and demand for robots to help in the warehouse, the report shows.

Robots take over many tasks
Machines are mainly used for packing, transporting, pelletising and storing goods. Companies are starting to realise the benefits of robotics more often as they strive to increase packaging speed, accuracy and reduce variable costs. The demand for robots and other automation solutions is also explained by the growth of e-commerce. E-fulfilment requires more efficiency and speed to ship and deliver parcels on time.

- SSI Schäffer (Germany),
- Daifuku Co, ltd (Japan),
- Dematic Corp (USA),
- KUKA AG (Germany)
- Vanderlande Industries (United States)
