Young, innovative companies in transport and logistics will soon be able to tap into a fund that boasts as much as 18 million euros. The fund, called Mainport Innovation Fund II (MIF II), has been set up by KLM, Schiphol Airport, TU Delft, the Port of Amsterdam and NS (Dutch Railways) to drive innovation in young companies.
Top player
The participating companies call it necessary to support these enterprises. Only in this way can the Netherlands remain a top player in logistics.
Predecessor
The name of the fund already suggests that such an idea is not entirely new. In fact, earlier there was the MIF I. The company Robin Radar was financially supported by the fund. Robin Radar came up with a solution to keep birds away from aircraft.
Ten to 15 investments
Over the next six years, the parties intend to make 10 to 15 investments in promising innovations. These could include innovations related to sustainable transport, connectivity, intermodal transport, internet of things, big data and safety.
