Action group 'Containment Nu' drove to Movianto on Monday with the idea of picking up the Pfizer vaccine and going around themselves. The activists did not want to wait for the kick-off on 8 January, so they drove their own refrigerated truck to Oss, where the vaccines are stored.
The trio was stopped on the highway by the police. The refrigerated truck was directed to a grass field, after which the activists continued on foot and knocked on the door of the logistics provider in Oss.
Medic on board
Containment Nu planned to load ten thousand vaccines into its refrigerated truck and take them to hospitals, nursing homes and puncture sites. Michael Blok of the action group stated that he mainly wanted to help. A medic was on board to administer the vaccines, should the need arise. "Should our offer of help be accepted, therefore, thousands of pricks could be put in the arms of elderly people, nurses and doctors as early as Monday," the action group said.
Blok spoke in front of the gate of Movianto with manager Michiel Heller. He thanked the activist for a "heartwarming" offer. "But let the professionals do their job, and all will be well," Heller said.
Movianto major pivot to corona vaccine
Movianto is responsible for the storage and distribution of the corona vaccine in the Netherlands. The hall in Oss houses 24 large freezers that store the approved Pfizer vaccine at a temperature of 70 degrees below zero. Trained employees of Movianto prepare the vaccines for shipment overnight. In a special cold room, they are thawed to 5 degrees Celsius. They are then transported to the puncture sites, where they are administered within five days.
If the vaccines from pharmaceutical companies Moderna and AstraZeneca are approved, they are also expected to come to Oss.
