Fulfilment player Active Ants and logistics provider Nedcargo are to collaborate in the food and spirits market. Housed in the same premises in Willebroek from July, the two parties saw opportunities for cooperation during the introduction. "Nedcargo is strong in an industry in which we are almost not yet active, but which has a lot of e-commerce needs."
Active Ants will next month move into a branch in Willebroek, Belgium, where Nedcargo also operates. The fuilfilment player will install a new rotobot-controlled e-commerce system here, intended for webshop companies in Belgium and the rest of the Benelux.
That's convenient for Nedcargo. The distributor supplies supermarkets, wholesalers and the hospitality industry in the Benelux from Willebroek. What is missing is the e-commerce branch. "Our customers now often use resellers for the e-commerce channel. Through Active Ants, we can now offer an e-commerce channel directly." explains Jurgen Mook, COO of Nedcargo.
That e-commerce solution is available in the Benelux, but also in the rest of Europe. Although that does not yet apply to all products. Roderick de la Houssaye, CEO/founder Nedcargo: "For alcoholic beverages, we still have some obstacles outside the Benelux because there are separate excise agreements in each country. Meanwhile, we can already deliver duty-free to France and Germany in addition to the Benelux. Four more countries will be added in the coming months. Ambition is to be able to do all of Europe."
By partnering with Nedacrgo, Active Ants, part of bpost, hopes to grow faster in Belgium and in the Food & Beverage market. Active Ants' first Belgian customers will be welcomed this summer.
