Albert Heijn and Valeo have the safest warehouses in the Netherlands. The supermarket chain and car parts supplier both received gold during the Safe Warehouse Day.

The companies received their awards during on 6 February in Zoetermeer. Fellow nominee Bosch Thermotechniek went home with the silver. In the small warehouses category, Synerlogic from Diemen received an honourable mention. Smurfit Kappa Zedek from Deventer won silver in this category. All winners received a cash prize intended to further strengthen the safety culture in the warehouse.
Jury verdict
The jury, led by Professor René de Koster (professor of logistics and operations management at Erasmus University Rotterdam) praised Valeo for the relaxed way its management manages its staff. Despite a new working method and a large number of new employees, the safety level is "unimaginably" high. Albert Heijn emerged as the winner due to its working method at its warehouse in Overijssel. The supermarket chain is said to have identified 20 hotspots and implemented improvements structurally.
Extra boost for safety
The Safest Warehouse in the Netherlands award is organised annually by BMWT, evofenedex and Tempo-Team. Through the election, they hope to boost safety in logistics.
