Albert Heijn is opening pick-up points in five hospitals today. Healthcare staff can go here to collect groceries.
The pick-up points will be in the VU Medical Centre and AMC in Amsterdam, Maasstad Hospital in Rotterdam, St Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein and Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Dordrecht. "In this way, we want to relieve care staff," AH top woman Marit van Egmond told the Financial Telegraaf. "They can order their groceries and pick them up at work."

The groceries will be delivered twice a week on two occasions: at the end of the night shift and at the end of the day shift. Care staff who do have to go to the shop will get priority at Albert Heijn. They do not have to join the queue outside the shop, reports the supermarket chain on its website.
Albert Heijn processed five times as many online orders in recent weeks. The mass retailer hired thousands of extra people to process orders and fill shop shelves. Many young people are working extra hours. In addition, former employees reportedly applied en masse to the supermarket chain.
