Albert Heijn is significantly expanding the delivery area for AH Compact, its grocery delivery service for small households, with the supermarket chain aiming to serve three times as many households within a month.
Residents of Velsen, Hoorn, Deventer, Purmerend, Edam-Volendam, Alphen aan de Rijn and Zoetermeer have been able to have groceries delivered to their homes free of charge via AH Compact since this week. More areas will follow in four weeks' time, bringing the total delivery area of AH Compact to 700,000 households.
AH Compact was launched last year as a delivery service for small households. For this, the supermarket chain applies a lower minimum order amount: 35 euros per order. Customers can choose from 5,000 products and delivery is free. After the launch in Haarlem, the service was extended to five additional cities. According to Philip Padberg, e-commerce director at the mass retailer, AH Compact is a success in all those cities. "That's why we are now rapidly expanding further and tripling the delivery area within a month."
