Amazon introduces parcel safes in housing association flats. Flats in New York and San Francisco are being fitted with a wall of safes.

With the expansion, half a million residents will have access to a parcel vault, called The Hub. This vault wall is specifically designed for flats. Delivery drivers can leave parcels here and consumers can place their returns in it. The Hub works for orders from Amazon as well as orders from other online shops.

Tidal wave of parcels

The parcel wall provides a solutions to the tidal wave of parcels that buildings in the United States have to handle. Doormen are seeing their jobs change as a result. Residents of luxury complexes would all expect the doorman to deliver the parcel right to the door. But in a building with about 500 residents, who order their groceries and their clothes online, the doorman has a day job here.
