The economic situation of the transport and logistics sector remains as serious as ever. As many as 72 per cent of companies are facing turnover losses. Compared to a fortnight ago, little has changed.

This is according to Transport and Logistics Netherlands' second corona monitor based on research among its own members, conducted between 8 and 21 April.

Since 1 March 2020, turnover has fallen by an average of 30 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier. This is a slight improvement from a fortnight ago, when the average turnover loss was 32 per cent.

Companies mainly have less work with existing customers. Only 5 per cent actually report more work with existing customers.

Fewer employees

Some 10 per cent of entrepreneurs are worried about liquidity. 15 per cent of respondents have had to compulsorily say goodbye to employees. Of this group, 11 per cent have had to lay off more than 30 employees.

Emergency and relief measures

Of emergency and relief measures offered during the corona crisis, 25 per cent of entrepreneurs make use of them. In general, companies do consider it likely that their business will survive in this crisis situation.
